My husband and I went to the Vigil in support of Cindy Sheehan in Union Square Park, NYC. We brought two large candles for ourselves and several smaller ones for others who needed them. We sat on the steps of the park and set up our candles. At first we just laid out the extra candles, but then we decided to light them. A few people took them. But then people started giving us their candles. I became a little altar there on the steps. People started coming by to take photos. One guy even stopped to pray. It was one of those little moments that we didn't plan, and probably couldn't have planned if we'd wanted to.
